Legislation, HB 1359, was filed in the 87th Legislature that would have given Texans a vote on Texas reclaiming its status as an Independent Nation.

Unfortunately, our State Representatives—my State Representative—refused to support our right under Article I, Section 2, of the Texas Constitution to decide that issue. HB 1359 died in the State Affairs Committee. I firmly believe that Article I, Section 1 and Section 2 of the Texas Constitution, along with the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, gives Texans the right to debate and vote on this critical issue. Should Texas reclaim its status as an Independent Nation? I pledge that I will submit legislation allowing YOU to answer that question.
